Configuration of GL in 11i
In 11i there are 5 mandatory setup steps to be followed to use General Ledger.
1. Chart Of Accounts (COA) - this is also known as accounting structure. Here we need to compile Accounting Key Flexfield. This should be defined and designed according to client's reporting requirement. This plays a very vital role in entire application.
2. Currency - This must be enabled
3. Calendar - This should be defined and validated. Here is the place where we will decide whether client needs calendar or fiscal and number of non adjusting period required.
4. Define the Set Of Book (SOB). We need to attach all the above said 3 C's and to decide whether client needs funding budget or non funding budget, require any reporting SOB configuration, daily closing required etc.,
5. Open and Close Period.
Often we may have to decide whether we need single SOB or MSOB during process mapping and solution designing. One important rule is to check apart from convenience that wherever any one C's are getting changed, we should go for MSOB. Another consideration is Open and Close Period.
